Services

Exercise Physiology

Exercise physiology uses targeted exercise intervention to manage health conditions, rehabilitate injuries, and rebuild physical capability. Programs are structured specifically around your body and goals rather than generic workouts.

Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, getting back into sport, or working on balance and falls prevention, every session is designed to deliver practical, long-term results. With the end goal of equipping you with the tools and knowledge to self manage.

Exercise Science

Exercise science focuses on improving your overall physical capacity, fitness, and health through structured, evidence-based training.

Whether you want to build general strength, improve your aerobic engine, boost everyday energy, or lay a solid physical foundation for athletic development, programs are designed to help you move better and feel stronger in daily life.

Endurance Coaching

Structured, science-backed coaching tailored specifically for runners and cyclists. Whether you are preparing for your first event, looking to break through a performance plateau, or competing at a high regional level, programs are designed to optimise your training load, building true aerobic capacity and stamina without burning you out.

From beginners taking on their first milestone to experienced athletes aiming for specific performance gains, every training plan is individualised to fit your life, your sport, and your goals.

Strength Coaching

Receive ongoing support for your strength endeavours. Whether your goal is to learn how to squat safely for the first time, build sport-specific power for collision sports like rugby, or set personal bests on the powerlifting stage, we provide structured, evidence-based strength training.

From absolute beginners mastering foundational movements to experienced lifters needing detailed technique analysis and periodised programming, every plan is designed to build real strength, optimise physical resilience, and reduce injury risk.

Scheme Referrals & Compensable Care

We accept referrals under all major compensable schemes, delivering structured exercise physiology for workplace injury recovery, road accident rehabilitation, and chronic disease management.

We cater to clients under:

  • Medicare (Chronic Disease Management / Allied Health Referral)

  • Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)

  • Workers Compensation

  • Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance

Lactate Testing (Coming Soon)

Field-based lactate testing provides runners, cyclists, and multisport athletes with an accurate, data-driven map of their true training zones. By measuring blood lactate response during real-world training, you can pinpoint your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds to optimise your training blocks without relying on estimated metrics. These results when combined with heart rate data provide a comprehensive breakdown of your power and heart rate zones specific to your physiology.

This service will be launching soon across the Lower Blue Mountains and Western Sydney. Submit an enquiry to express your interest and be the first to know when bookings open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Exercise Physiology is the prescription of evidence-based, targeted exercise to manage chronic health conditions, rehabilitate injuries, and optimize physical function. As university-qualified allied health professionals, Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) specialise in how the human body responds to movement. Unlike general fitness personal training, our programs are clinically tailored to manage medical conditions, reduce long-term pain, and safely restore physical capability. Whether recovering from surgery, managing metabolic health, or building longevity, exercise physiology uses exercise as targeted medicine.

While both are allied health disciplines, physiotherapists primarily focus on acute injuries, clinical diagnosis, and hands-on treatments such as joint mobilisation or massage. Exercise Physiologists specialise in late-phase rehabilitation, chronic condition management, and long-term functional recovery through active movement and exercise prescription. Rather than passive manual therapy, we utilise gym- and field-based strength and conditioning to build durable physical capacity. In short: physiotherapists help manage acute symptoms, while exercise physiologists build your baseline strength and fitness so those issues don't return.

No, you do not need a referral to book as a private client or performance athlete—you can contact us directly at any time. However, a doctor’s referral or clearance is required if you are claiming treatment through Medicare (Chronic Disease Management plans), DVA, Workers Compensation, or CTP schemes. Most private health insurance funds also offer rebates for Exercise Physiology consultations without requiring a GP referral. If you are unsure which pathway applies to you, simply submit an enquiry form and we will guide you through the setup.

Move Ahead Physiology currently offers in-person consultation out of Anytime Fitness Blaxland and Springwood clubs.

This is not exclusive to members. Anyone can book in for a consultation!
